A PLACE OF PRAYER

At River we love to pray… Whether its part of a Sunday gathering, out prayer walking, in dedicated prayer meetings or as part of our devotional time… prayer is are first and foremost communication with God.

We believe prayer goes beyond just conversation with God and is powerful and can change things! Jesus teaches us in Matthew 17:20 that “Faith even as small as a mustard seed has the power to move mountains”.

Jesus also explains in John 14:12 that “whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these”… If we believe in the power Jesus commanded through prayer, then we need to believe that we truly can do like Jesus did.

TEACH US HOW TO PRAY…

When asked by his followers, Jesus gave them this simple model of prayer to follow, Be thankful, seek repentance and then finally ask for what you need… Thank you, Sorry and Please. This has come to be known as the Lords Prayer and can be used as a prayer by itself or used as a template for prayer.

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
