Peace

During the Covid Lockdown I was asked to paint a picture to accompany the song “Peace.” I decided to use water-colours for this, and to record the process on video. (I had to allow the paper to dry between after each layer of paint.) The Hebrew writing shows the word “Shalom,” which means “Peace.”
There is something about being in a boat, out on the water, on a calm sunny day that allows us to wind down and absorb peace from the natural world and from God. We all needed God’s peace during the Lockdown – to deliberately come aside from the worries and uncertainties of the epidemic. Perhaps you need to tap into God’s peace again today – if so, listen to this song now and remember Jesus’ promise:
“I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and peace of heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27, NLT)

I started painting Prophetic Art in 2009, during a year spent with Bethel Church, in Redding, California. We were preparing to go on a Mission Trip to Norway, and I created art-cards for the people we met, using each picture as the start of a prophetic message.

Usually, I use acrylic paints on canvas, because they are bright colours and dry quickly. Occasionally I use water-colours, or simply coloured pencils. Most of my finished pictures have been given away to someone during (or just after) the meeting – it is exciting when they see something in the picture that I (the artist) did not see!

Sometimes my art is part of my intercession, and I pause to pray, sensing Jesus’ love for a situation that is breaking his heart.
