The followers of Jesus who made up the core of the early church had spent years with Jesus before he ascended to heaven. Over that time they had become part of a community focused on becoming more like the person at its centre. We then begin to see the followers of Jesus starting to do the things that he did – healing, preaching and living in a different way.
