RUTH

Ruth is a short 4 chapter book of The Old Testament, and within these pages (set up like a screen play) is a story of tragedy and loss, followed by redemption and hope.

This Book explores looking the relationship between God’s purposes and human decisions. God weaves together the faithful obedience of the Israelites (his people) entwined with God restoring his world and setting up his rescue plan.

The story of Ruth itself is primarily about God’s faithfulness to Naomi but expands this image to show God’s faithfulness to Israel in providing King David.

All of a sudden, the seemingly mundane events in this story are woven into God’s grand story of redemption for the whole world. The small story of Ruth is taken up in the larger story of God’s purpose, and in this way, the book of Ruth invites us to consider how God might be at work in our own lives as well.
