WHAT WE
BELIEVE

To bring the life of Jesus and His kingdom wherever we are.

What is Spiritual Formation?

Dallas Willard describes spiritual formation like this…
“Spiritual formation in the Christian tradition, is a process of increasingly being possessed and permeated by the character traits of Jesus, as we walk in the easy yoke of discipleship with Jesus our teacher.”

Our formation is how we change to become more like Jesus as we spend time with Jesus. Spiritual Formation needs to be an intentional decision and takes a lifetime of practice and dedication.

We as humans naturally belong in community, in relationship with one another. We typically long for community with others. Living in community with each other allows for transformation in two beautiful ways; exposure and encouragement.

Exposure is opening up and allowing others to have a window into our lives, observing what we can’t see in ourselves and challenging us. Having others walk closely with you enables you to strive and improve yourself, this is healthy exposure… and a good community provides not only healthy exposure but also encouragement.

Encouragement starts by knowing what each other are working through, and how we are striving to be better Christ like people. We are there to support each other, we notice when others are trying and love each other when we fall short.

Now this isn’t easy but it’s worth it!

The Apostles’ Creed is the foundational backbone of belief in Christian churches. Though many churches and flavours of Christianity have different interpretations of the Bible, and embrace various doctrinal nuances, the essence of what the Scriptures teach is found in the words of the Apostles’ Creed.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
